Groundwork GDS was contracted to develop a map for the Deep Sea Conservation Coalition that illustrates the predicted distribution of three deep-sea (found at depths of 200 meters or more) habitats in the UK and Irish exclusive economic zones (200 miles offshore) and continental shelves. An infographic that illustrates the extent to which these habitats would likely be protected from bottom trawling if the European Union were to adopt a prohibition on bottom trawling below 600m depth or a prohibition below 800m depth can be found here.
