Groundwork South was commissioned by the Combe Valley Countryside Park to audit the park and report existing problems and potential opportunities. The GDS team supported this work by creating an online mapping application to plot points of interest on an interactive map. Using ArcGIS Webmap, two local friends of park volunteers surveyed the park and captured areas of opportunities and problems as locations on the map. The application, accessed via smartphone allows recording site details through entering and editing records directly in the map, taking photos and sharing to the public in a seamless manner. The data was then stored in ArcGIS Online for easy access to be viewed by project stakeholders. By using ArcGIS Online the GDS team could build an easy-to-use application, allowing for data to be captured and stored in a secure enviroment with minimal supervision and training required.
