Founded in 1965, the Colne Valley Regional Park is a 43 square miles mixed landscape park to the west of London that offers a wide range of experiences and natural habitats.
Groundwork South acts as Managing Agent for the preservation and enhancement of the Colne Valley Regional Park, a mixed, historical landscape of 43 square miles in the proximity of West London. Through a partnership with the National Lottery, it seeks to bring together partner groups to improve the park habitats and local livelihoods. As part of this initiative a Green Infrastructure strategy has been produced to guide the work of local authority planners, developers and local organisations seeking to preserve and enhance the Colne Valley Regional Park and the adjacent Crane Valley.
The GDS team has supported this consultation by creating an interactive web map, using ArcGIS web application, for users to view and provide feedback on existing landmarks and strategies, as well as making recommendations for new opportunities. Overall, this will feed into a larger landscape-wide strategy to capture the different uses, needs and interactions between people and the habitats.
