Direct Line, owning and operating a Green Flag rescue network, commissioned Groundwork GDS to develop an online GIS system to help with the bidding and selection processes of preferred suppliers of rescue services across the UK. Each postcode sector in the country is covered by a rescue service so understanding their geographical coverage and linking them to Green Flag operation zones are key factors while deciding the preferred bidder. The GDS team mapped over 9,500 postcode sectors in the country with key attributes like current supplier, current rate, proposed rate, number of incidents in the previous year etc. which helped the bid management team to map and compare the suppliers and their rates while deciding the preferred supplier.
